Michael Harper

Michael is the Chairman of the Minuteman Equity Fund, and President of the Investment Club. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, and moved to Rochester, New York in 1989, where he has lived ever since. Michael decided to return to the New England area by attending the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where he is a student in the Isenberg School of Management. Last summer, Michael returned to Rochester to intern at Peregrine Capital Partners, LLC., an investment banking boutique, as well as Crossbridge Financial Group, LLC., a financial advisory firm.

Jacob Gordon
Chief Economist/Strategist
Class of 2009
Jacob is the Chief Economist of The Minuteman Equity Fund. He was born in Northampton, Massachusetts and moved to Amherst, M.A in 1992 where he continues to reside. He is a junior economics major. Last summer he worked at the Political Economy Research Institute as a research assistant analyzing the economics of solar energy. His interests include sports, the news and hip-hop.

Jonathan Mauro

Jon is a junior from Worcester, MA and is a Finance and Economics dual-major.
Jon has been a member of the Investment Club, and the Management Fund since the Fall of 2007. Apart from the fund, Jon is also Treasurer of Isenberg Honors Council and a member of the Finance Society. Aside from attending various UMass sporting events, in his spare time you can find Jon enjoying a round of golf or bowling a 300 or two. This summer he will be an intern in SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Global Financial Development Program.

Candice Lo
Head of Fund Development
Class of 2009
Candice Lo is Head of Fund Development for the Student Management Fund. Her directive is to promote and grow the size of the Fund. Candice was born in Hong Kong and lived there for the first ten years of her life when she then moved to Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey in 1997. She is currently a junior Finance major with a double minor in Economics and Chinese. The summer after her freshman year, she returned to Hong Kong for a summer internship within Citigroup’s Cards Business department. She returned to Citi for a second summer at their Central Citigold Wealth Management Branch in a customer service oriented position. She will be spending her 2008 summer in Boston as an intern within KPMG’s Transactions Advisory Services. Candice enjoys horseback-riding, photography, traveling, and volunteering for philanthropic organizations.

Michael Schiraga

Michael is the Co-Founder and Former Chairman of the Student Managed Fund. Born and raised in Dedham, MA, Michael was very involved in both the Lacrosse and Soccer teams at Dedham High School. Upon joining the Isenberg School as a freshman, he got involved in starting the Investment Club with the hopes of obtaining real money to manage. Now as a Senior Finance major, his hard work and efforts have come to fruition. Michael will be working at FTI Consulting next year in their Corporate Turnaround and Restructuring group.

Eric Mish
Former Chief Investment Officer

Eric is a Senior Finance major with a concentration in Investments and a minor in Economics. He is actively involved in the Investments Club and has been involved in the UMass Student Managed Fund since its inception. His sophomore year he interned at Liberty Mutual’s investment group in Boston, and during his Junior year he worked in Washington, DC with Booz Allen & Hamilton. Eric is from Marlborough Massachusetts and will be working at General Electric in the Financial Management Program when he graduates. Eric enjoys traveling, sports, and brewing beer.

Matthew Powers
Former Chief Investment Officer

Matthew is a senior Finance major from Paxton, MA. In his role as former Chief Investment Officer, Matthew put many of his finance skills and experience to the test. He will be putting this knowledge to use at Goldman Sachs & Co. next year in their trading operations group. Matthew has had internships with both Dearden Asset Management and Goldman Sachs in his sophomore and junior year respectively. Matthew is interested in soccer, squash, traveling and fine dining.
